Where You Receive Botox Matters!

As of last month, 17 people from 9 different states “reported harmful reactions after receiving injections with counterfeit products, products from unverified sources, or from individuals who were not following state or local requirements. A subsequent investigation warned that consumers should only receive FDA-approved botulinum toxin injections from a reliable, licensed provider.

Botox is an excellent option for smoothing facial wrinkles including forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines and more.. It is also used to elevate the eyebrows by relaxing the muscles that pull the brows down. It has been used for more than 20 years in aesthetic practices with excellent results.

Botox is made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It was first discovered in 1897 but didn’t make its way into the medical treatment realm until the 1970s, when American ophthalmologist Dr. Alan Scott used it to treat eye muscles after retinal detachment surgery. Other doctors soon used Botox for other eye disorders, and in patients with migraine headaches. It was during these treatments that patients experienced an unexpected benefit: The fine lines around their eyes were becoming smoother! This eventually led to the 2002 FDA approval for cosmetic applications.
